San Diego has had another distressing firestorm and we have also witnessed amazing emergency services by the fire, police, marines, Red Cross, 2-1-1 staff, the local news reporters and the many other resources made available to decrease the impact of this firestorm. We truly appreciate their services and the extended support from other cities helping San Diego battle the blazes. The San Diego EMDR Trauma Recovery Network (SD TRN) is also available to support the first responders and help the community heal.
The SD TRN will activate its volunteers to provide free, brief EMDR therapy services to the public in the weeks ahead. A few reasons for obtaining services may be:
- Anger or intense emotions
- Unable to rest, sleepless or fear having to evacuate again
- Loss of safety; feeling the world is unsafe
- Feelings of guilt due to losing personal property, feeling responsible, witnessing loss, or feeling you could have done more to help
- Anxiously replaying a negative scene in your mind, easily startled or agitated
- Children acting clingy, disruptive, anxious, fearful or having nightmares
We are pleased to assist our community by providing free services, and we hope you will allow us to help.
